Summer Lullabies

Maybe there's something about this time of year that makes me learn new lullabies? Last year at the beginning of July, we went blueberry picking, and the same day I stumbled across the Highland Fairy Lullaby, and haven't been able to stop singing it since (much to the children's amusement and much to the husband's dismay...)

Then yesterday, I started singing Summertime at bedtime (you know, and the living is easy...), decided the kids should hear Janice sing it, discovered it was a lullaby (I had no idea, but it makes sense, as long as she is not singing it) from Porgy and Bess and that its writing by Gershwin was inspired by a Ukrainian lullaby. I have no idea if this is the same lullaby, but we then found this Ukrainian lullaby, with a video, that is decidedly not Summertimey, snowy rather, but very soothing and pretty:

Sleep tight!
